The Northside Boy’s Track & Field team finished 10th overall at the state track meet at Berry College in Rome, Ga. this Saturday May, 12th 2018. Junior middle distance runner Jonathan Myrthil captured his 1st state title in his 3rd appearance at the Georgia state track & field finals. Jonathan ran his second fastest time in the 800 meter finals winning the event with a blazing time of 1:53.74 seconds. Grant Briscoe was runner –up in the pole vault as a freshmen challenging the defending 4A state champion to an epic dual. Grant vaulted 13’6 inches and came close to upsetting the defending champ. Grant has vaulted a personal best this season with a 14’0 vault earlier this year setting a new outdoor school record. Senior discus thrower KaShawn Robinson finished 5th overall in the discus throw at the state meet. This was Kashawn’s 2nd appearance at the state meet. He finished 10th last season and he is the school’s current record holder with a throw of 152 feet-1 inch. Sophomore Keshaun Berry also performed well finishing 13th overall in the 200 meter dash. Northside Track and Field has complied 4 top 10 state finishes as a team, 4 state champions (Ventavius Sears, Jakeeyla Hayes, Alec Tanksley and Jonathan Myrthil), 22 top 10 individual event state finishes, 3 team region championships, and 50 individual region champions in the past 5 seasons. Special thanks to God for all the wonderful blessings. I also want to show appreciation to Coach Bryant, Coach Tillman, Coach Briscoe and Coach Lindsey for the wonderful job they do all the time to help keep Northside track & field growing. Thanks and God bless! Go Pats!
