Northside Wrestlers See Success over the Winter Break

The Northside wrestlers placed third at the area duals tournament, losing to Cairo (area champion) and Columbus (area runner-up). In the final match with Columbus it came down to the final two matches, with Columbus finally winning 40 to 33. The team gave up 30 points in five matches due to forfeiting the heavyweight weight class. Any Patriots over 200 pounds are still welcome to come out and try the sport.


In other matches, the Patriots redeemed themselves with a 40 to 36 win over Hardaway, and they defeated Westover with a score of 58 to 21. Finally, they defeated Americus-Sumter with a score of 45 to 26.


Also over the break several wrestlers placed at the Hardaway JV Invitational. Place winners include:

Chase Cook – 3rd place

Josh Bowers – 3rd place

Deandre Webb – 3rd place

Sam Bowers – 4th place

Parker Lindsey – 4th place

Rourke Burke – 4th place

Hazen Thompson – 4th place

Michael Myhand – 4th place

Lucas Sheppard – 4th place


The Patriots have a Friday home match on January 19th against Jordan and Chattco. This weekend the varsity will compete in the Smiths Station Invitational.
